Project Description:Chestnut Flats is a 37-unit, 4-story multi-family apartment building.
Details:Chestnut Flats is a remodel and expansion of the former Dream on Futon building located at 119 W. Chestnut Street in downtown Bellingham. The existing building is a two-story commercial building built prior to 1950. The project involves the remodel of the existing basement and first floor, and converting the vacant commercial space into residential apartment units. The first floor will retain commercial space along the street frontage. Two additional floors of residential apartments will be added to the building.
This project required approval of a Design Review Application and Building Permit Application. A Multi-Family Tax Exemption was also requested for relief from applicable real estate taxes pursuant to a recently adopted City Ordinance. AVT Consulting prepared the Design Review and Multi-Family Tax Exemption Applications, and acted as owner representative during the preliminary planning and permitting phases. AVT Consulting also provided preliminary budget information for permit and impact fees. Construction is on-going for this project.
